Context: In this scene from the Apocryphal Book of Tobit, Tobias, dressed in red, is seen curing the blindness of his aged father Tobit. Tobit's wife Anna appears at the left. In the background is the angel Raphael, who had instructed Tobias to catch a fish that would provide an ointment to cure blindness. Amid the twisting forms and dramatic hand gestures is a tender family scene.
